Six TIAA members visited the Texas Discovery Gardens located in the Dallas Fair Park on August 27. The Discovery Gardens is certainly an oasis located within theTexas State Fair grounds. We began our morning touring the Butterfly House which contains over 50 species of butterflies from nine countries. The beauty and diversity of the butterflies were simply amazing! Then, we went to work printing leaflets and stuffing them into envelopes to be used by volunteers during the Texas State Fair. Finally, we were given another tour – this time through the 7.5 acres of their gardens, a lovely and relaxing site to behold.  We met the on-site Master Gardner who gave us some quick tips on the various flowering plants in the garden and then it was time for us to say good-by to our host, Jennifer Hoffman. We were pleased to have been able to help out at the gardens and look forward to a return visit in the future.
