Eisenhower and Rayburn Museums

609 S Lamar Ave, Denison, TX 75021

890 W TX-56, Bonham, TX 75418

Located in the heart of Denison, the Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site showcases the home where the 34th U.S. President Dwight David “Ike” Eisenhower was born in 1890. Antique furnishings fill the modest frame house, illustrating the working-class life of the Eisenhowers. The visitor center celebrates Ike with memorabilia and exhibits featuring his many accomplishments as president and war hero.

One of the most powerful and influential politicians in the 20th century, Rayburn served in the U.S. Congress for 48 years, holding the position of speaker for 17 years. His 1916 home preserves his real stories with original furnishings, candid photographs, and personal belongings, remaining as they were when he lived here. The home is a National Historic Landmark, a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Come join us to enjoy a bit of Texas history. We’ll leave Texins Fitness Center at 10:30 am, have lunch at The North Rig Grill, tour the Eisenhower House at 1:00 pm and then head over to the Rayburn home for a 3:00 pm tour.  We will then return to Texins around 5:00 pm depending on traffic. The cost is $10.00 ($5 for each museum). Please register online for this event.
