Historical Note
TIAA was founded in 1999 as a “club” within the umbrella legal structure of the “Texins Association Clubs” (TAC), a Texas nonprofit corporation, founded a number of decades ago. At its founding, TAC had 27 clubs. Over the years the number of clubs declined substantially and in 2019 TAC leadership made the decision to liquidate and help the remaining clubs establish themselves as standalone entities.
The TI Alumni Association was established as a standalone Texas nonprofit corporation in March 2020 and does not intend to seek an income tax exemption under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
