Seminar on Senior Living and Healthy Diets (DATE CHANGE)

Mark your calendar and don’t miss the special summer seminar to be held in the Ballroom of Windsor Senior Living. The seminar will feature a presentation by Cathy Sperling, Director of Sales and Marketing for Windsor, which reviews transitions in housing for seniors and a range of options. Following the presentation, the Dining Services Director and Health Services Director of Windsor will discuss healthy diets, including salt-free options, sugar free desserts, and hydration; with tastings of some of the Chef’s creations. Refreshments will be served.

Education Seminar: Managing the Cost of Your Prescriptions & Diabetes Wellness

Sherry Davidson, RN Diabetes Coordinator at Baylor will discuss healthy lifestyle goals to prevent and manage diabetes. 

Natalie Mangham and Carl Burlbaw, Eldercare Specialists from the Senior Source, will offer suggestions and ideas on the options available to reduce your prescription costs.  This information can be useful to seniors who have insurance beyond Medicare, and to those who don't.  Please register below.

Seminar on Fraud Prevention and Resources for Seniors

Ranae Perry, Chief Operations Officer of The Senior Source, and her associates will update us on their newest program, Elder Financial Safety Center, a collaborative effort between The Senior Source, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and Dallas County Probate Courts to ensure the financial safety of older adults through prevention, protection and prosecution of frauds and scams.

Alzheimers Seminars, April, 2015

Caregiver Support Group, through the Alzheimer’s Association, Dallas Chapter which meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday, gave a seminar hosted by TIAA on April 8 in South Oak Cliff.  The same seminar was held at the Plano Centre two weeks before that. They talked about helping participants develop methods and skills to solve problems and encouraged caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well  as care for the person with dementia.

TIAA-UTD Seminar, May 21, 2015

There were 40 participants in the Joint Seminar held on May 21 on UT Dallas Campus. About half of the attendees were from TIAA and half were members of the UT Dallas Retiree Association. There are no clear-cut answers yet – partially due to the need for more large-scale studies – but promising research is under way. Speakers from the Alzheimer's Association will discuss the outcomes from studies which explore the influence of exercise, diet, social and mental stimulation, and other factors in the development of Alzheimer’s.

The Wall That Heals

Honor the fallen and reflect on Americans who served during the Vietnam War by visiting The Wall That Heals, a traveling 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The four-day exhibit will include events and educational opportunities.
