Apr 22, 2018

The TIAA Golf Tournament served as a kick-off to the TI United Way Campaign, as some 92 golfers teed off for the 19th annual event at the Woodbridge Golf Club in Wyle, TX.

By the end of the day, the tournament had raised $24,310 in donations and pledges to benefit The Senior Source, a United Way agency. TI and the Texans Credit Union were underwriters for the tournament, making it possible for 100 percent of the donations to go directly to the non-profit agency that helps frail and needy seniors in North Texas. The tournament was moved to April to coincide with TI’s decision to hold the United Way Campaign earlier in the year.

During lunch, Cortney Nicolato, President and CEO of The Senior Source, thanked golfers and donors for their contributions, and highlighted the work by her agency in serving more than 36,000 senior citizens in the local area last year. Since its beginning in the year 2000, the tournament has raised more than $375,000 for charity. TI Vice President, Ellen Barker, welcomed the golfers and thanked all the volunteers who helped with the tournament, both from TIAA and TI. It was also noted, that because the TI golfers had decided to make their donations directly to The Senior Source this year, that the TI Foundation would match their gifts.

Legend Sponsors for this year’s tournament were: Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas; Steve J. Combest, Financial Advisor, Capital Financial Services; and Edward Jones & Co., Jerry Pierce, CFP Other Corporate Sponsors for the tournament included: Highland Springs, a Champion Sponsor and five Masters Sponsors: The Dallas Foundation, Ebby Halliday Realtors, SVTronics, The Tradition Senior Living, and UT Dallas.
