Air Tractor Factory tour, August 2016

Apr 29, 2018

Thirty-three TIAA Travelers had a great time visiting the Air Tractor manufacturing company in Olney, TX, on August 17. We took a luxury bus to Jacksboro stopping to eat at the Green Frog, and then a 30-minute drive delivered us to the large plant where we toured two of the four hangers. They were building several models of planes during our tour that are used for seeding, spraying, spying and fighting fires – picture flying tractors. The owner of this company sold it to the employees before he died at 80 so they cannot be bought out by another company and can stay in Olney. The 250 employees continue to build approximately 125-135 planes a year which are delivered to as far away as Australia while their closest competitor builds about 25. An very educational and interesting tour.
