"Impressive" was the comment most uttered after 19 TIAA members toured the new Parkland Hospital on August 15, 2017. This is the third Parkland Hospital to be built in Dallas County and they have come far from a wood-frame building in 1894 to this $1.7 billion modern structure — up sixteen stories, in fact. Patients are at the heart of everything they do and it remains one of the busiest public hospitals in the nation with 864 private patient rooms and over one million patient visits each year. They are a Level I Trauma Center, partner with next-door Southwestern for the latest in medical training and technology, and assist with the birth of 30 babies each day — yep, a new kindergarten class is born every day right there! We ended our trip by enjoying good conversation and Mexican food at El Chico's restaurant in Richardson before returning to TI on our bus about 2 pm.
