Even a dark and stormy day didn't prevent 85 TIAA members and guests from attending our Annual Meeting which was held at Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas on May 8, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Great refreshments were provided from the kitchen of Wolfgang Puck, courtesy of TI.
Linda Abraham-Silver, Chief Executive Officer of the Perot Museum, gave a highly informative briefing about the museum. TIAA President Debi Heaton then gave us an update on TIAA and reviewed many of the organizations activities over the last year.
This was followed by election of officers for the term July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020: Debi Heaton, President; Margaret Breedjik, Executive VP; Shyamal Parikh, Treasurer; and Kate Rose, Secretary. The nominees for President, Executive VP and Secretary currently serve in these roles and have agreed to serve another term. Shyamal Parikh, the nominee for Treasurer, joined TI in 1980 after getting an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles. He started his career as an analyst in the MOS Memory business, with progressive assignments in Accounting, Finance and Operation and left TI in 2004 as the VP of Financial Planning. After leaving TI, he joined a private equity held technology company, Ocular LCD, as CFO and then went on to work at Glazer's Distributors, from where he retired in 2018. He currently runs a consulting practice, Glendora Ventures, with a former TI colleague.
After the meeting attendees toured the museum, including the Texas Instruments Innovation and Engineering Hall, before boarding the bus around 3:30 pm to return to TI's North Campus.
