Linda Stopani is TIAA 2017 Volunteer of the Year

Feb 1, 2018

TIAA is pleased to announce that Linda Stopani is our selection for the 2017 Volunteer of the Year award. Linda has been a member of TIAA for 9 years. Her volunteer projects include Texas Ramps, Garland Library, several TIAA committees, various Church and library activities, and service to many other organizations through the TIAA Community Involvement Team (CIT) throughout the year.

Her participation with Texas Ramps alone involved over 700 hours spent during 2017 performing administrative duties, taking client home surveys, setting up the scheduled builds, updating the database, building and assisting teams to build wooden ramps which allowed handicapped people to regain the ability to leave their homes.

At TIAA, Linda is a member of the Travel & Events committee. She is also a member of the Communications Committee, Editor of the eCalendar and maintains TIAA’s online calendar. Linda is a dedicated volunteer to assist in any way possible during TIAA’s many events.

Linda spends many hours volunteering at the Friends of the Garland Library. She is Treasurer and Chair of the Book Sale which involves year-round sorting of materials. Her Church activities include Church Librarian, reader, usher, communion assistant, communion bread maker and other volunteer activities that come up during the year.

TIAA presented her with a plaque during our December Volunteer luncheon to express our appreciation for her many hours of service throughout the community. Linda expressed to us during the award ceremony that she was “surprised and extremely honored” to have won the 2017 Volunteer of the Year award. Please give Linda a hearty congratulation the next time you see her!
