Volunteers needed Aug. 11 to help at Crossroads Community Services food pantry

Jul 22, 2022

Our next community service activity will be Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Crossroads Community Services food pantry.

Crossroads (CCS) fulfills its mission through their programs and services. They provide nutritious food into the hands of low-income neighbors through their distribution network and in-house pantry. They also are changing the way people think of hunger and hunger solutions by providing supportive education to the general public and to the clients served.

Our TIAA volunteers will fill boxes with nonperishable food items for later distribution to clients.  We may also be asked to restock shelves with boxes and canned goods and/or sort items looking for past-due dates.

To sign up, click on the registration link on this page.

We will meet Aug. 11 at the Texins Fitness Center to board a Senior Source bus at 7:45 a.m. for transportation to CCS. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense) and arrive back at Texins by 1:30 p.m.

Crossroads Community Services is located at 4500 S Cockrell Hill Rd. in Dallas, which is the former location of the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). From their new 75,000 sq. ft. home, they are serving as the southern regional hub for NTFB and expanding their food distribution program.

Important – Covid19 safety requirements apply.  Must be vaccinated to ride the Senior Source van. Wearing a mask is optional.
