Following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Nepal on Saturday, April 25, an international appeal for assistance has been issued. In response to this appeal and inquiries from TIers who want to help, the TI Foundation has approved a grant to the American Red Cross to match up to $25,000 of TI employees’ and retirees’ donations to the Nepal relief efforts. The deadline for donations to be matched is May 31, 2015.
News reports estimate that more than 4,600 people have died, more than 9,000 are injured, and 8 million people are affected across Nepal, including 1 million children who urgently need help. “TIers around the world have been asking how they can help with the Nepal earthquake relief efforts,” said Andy Smith, executive director, Texas Instruments Foundation. “The TI Foundation’s matching grant will help make employee’s donations go twice as far and provide much needed resources for the victims of this disaster.”
