1. Struggling families
Why: North Texas has one of the highest child poverty rates in the U.S. Help area children in need celebrate the holidays.
Program: The Salvation Army "Angel Tree"
Serves, on average, a family of five with an annual income of $25,000, and provides Christmas gifts to their children (ages 14 and under).
How: Adopt an angel.

2. The homebound
Why: The elderly and the homebound often have multiple chronic conditions that increase their risk for illness and prevent them from obtaining everyday household items.
Program: Visiting Nurses Association
The VNA provides clients with everyday items they need, including toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap, and other hygiene items, as well as pet food through its Pet Care program.

3. Homeless neighbors
Why: North Texas has one of the highest homelessness rates in the nation.
Program: Samaritan Inn Shelter, Collin County
Samaritan Inn is a comprehensive homeless program that helps unhoused people secure their independence.
How: Paint words of encouragement.
