February 26, C.R. Smith Flight Museum (American Airlines)

Wednesday, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, Grand Prairie.  We’ll hop on a TI bus and tour the C.R. Smith Museum which will let us travel through American Airlines history.  The museum features hundreds of historical artifacts, photographs, full-scale aircraft engines and a rare Douglas DC-3 airliner (Mr. C.R. was the designer of the DC-3 and former President of American Airlines). The Flight Lab will teach us how and why airplanes fly, with wind tunnels, computer games and interactive displays explaining the basics of aerodynamics. We’ll also view The Spirit of American which is a film covering the history of commercial aviation as well as breathtaking aerial photography.  We’ll leave at 10:00 am, tour the museum, eat at La Madeleine on our own, and return about 3:00 pm.  Cost is $15 for members and $17 for nonmembers.  Seating is limited so make your reservation early.
