The City of Garland is bringing “The Wall That Heals” to the metroplex for a few days. This is a three-quarter scale replica of the permanent Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. which bears the names of the 58,276 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. Along with the wall a mobile Education Center will also be on display.

Since many ex-TIers are also veterans, TIAA has scheduled an event at 11:30 am on February 27 so we can arrive at Dos Banderas (located at 614 Main Street in Garland) to meet, greet, talk and enjoy great Tex-Mex food (on our own).  Around 1:00 pm we will drive our individual cars a few miles to the Garland Audubon Park and have a veteran-led tour of this exhibit which honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces during the Vietnam War. This way everyone can attend the private tour and then stay to view the wall at their leisure. There is no cost for the tour but please register for this event so the restaurant will be prepared to accommodate all of us.
