We have an exciting opportunity to make a difference and give back to the community here in our own backyard.

TI is partnering with the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to celebrate their 90th anniversary by sponsoring the “Nine for 90” program.  Because we’re the presenting sponsor, TIers and TIAA have the opportunity to join a Dallas Cowboys legend in various service projects throughout the year.

Our opportunity comes on Tuesday, November 11, as Legal, IT, Veteran’s Initiative and the TI Alumni Association will get together with AT&T, KPMG, Energy Future Holdings and LaQuinta employees for a concentrated effort to assist our North Texas veterans with Rich Templeton, Cowboy Legend Roger Staubach, and various elected officials.

Prior to the “Nine for 90” event,  Green Extreme Homes, with volunteers from Citi, Home Depot and the Environmental Protection Agency, will have built two new energy-efficient homes for the deserving veterans, as part of a neighborhood revitalization project in the City of Garland.  The project is intended to bring the community together to honor veterans on Veterans Day.

40 TI volunteers will join volunteers from other sponsoring companies to help transform two houses into homes for deserving veterans and their families.  TIers will be putting on finishing touches on the homes including furnishing rooms, stocking bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens with supplies and food, and landscaping the exterior.

Activities will include a ceremony to hand over the keys to two veterans and their families

Please wear casual comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. United Way “Nine for 90” t-shirts and TI visors will be provided at onsite registration.  Lunch and drinks will be provided for volunteers at no cost.

Parking will be limited, so you are encouraged to ride a TI shuttle.  The shuttle will be provided at the Texins Activity Center and will depart promptly at 8:30 a.m.
