Monday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Elm Mott. Step aside from the rush of urban living and observe firsthand some of the sustainable life skills and crafts that agrarian people have practiced for decades at their 18th annual festival.  In the morning we will see the traditional method of making sweet sorghum syrup beginning with pressing the cane in a horse-drawn cane press. This will continue all morning, followed in the afternoon by syrup cooking in a 12-ft copper pan over a wood- fired furnace. Throughout the day, craftsmen will demonstrate pottery making, blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, quilting, basketry and more in their air-conditioned shops.  Outdoor food choices include beef hot dogs and sausage-on-a-stick hot off the grill, fresh brick oven pizza, funnel cakes and fresh ice cream! Or you can enjoy lunch at Cafe Homestead in a comfortable, air-conditioned environment.

We will leave at 9:00 a.m., arrive at 11:00, and return about 4:00 p.m.

Cost is $25 for members, $28 for nonmembers and $20 for children 12 and under.
