The Texas Ramp Project

[Location – Various; Assigned on day of event]

Have you ever changed a person’s life in a single day? The Texas Ramp Project does it hundreds of times a year! They build wheelchair ramps for disabled or elderly people who can’t afford to buy one. In a few hours in a morning, they give these folks the freedom to leave their home again—the home where they want to remain but whose steps have imprisoned them.

    • Volunteers must wear heavy duty closed-toe shoes or boots. Hats and long sleeve shirts are recommended as all activity is outdoors and may be in full sun light.
    • Volunteers should be comfortable with lifting at least 20 lbs however not all volunteers will need to lift this much.
    • Volunteers should be comfortable with standing, bending, and walking for extended periods of time

Please meet by 9:00 am at an assigned location by private vehicle (a Senior Source van will not be available for this event’s transportation).  Volunteers will assist in the construction of a custom-made ramp – no construction skills required.  Afterwards, we will have lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense). Please register online for this event. You MUST register so we know how many volunteers to count on for this event.
