Oswald Exhibit-Private Tour
Old Dallas Police Headquarters
UNT Dallas College of Law
106 S. Harwood Street, Dallas
In the basement of the former Dallas City Hall and Police Headquarters building on Harwood Street, which is now the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law, are elaborate displays recalling the arrest of accused presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and his murder. Images are projected on walls at the entrance depicting events in that building and the city of Dallas in November 1963.
In the first room of the basement exhibit, old TVs and a radio play more sounds and sights of the early 1960s leading up to the assassination of President Kennedy. In the next room, interactive displays depict the interrogation area where both Oswald and his killer, Jack Ruby, were questioned and the building’s line-up area where witness identification was conducted. There is a recreation of what once was the suspect booking area. And finally, the exhibit ends with photos of Oswald’s murder in the exact spot where Ruby fired the fatal shot.
The exhibit is not open to the public yet. They are making a special accommodation for the TI Alumni Association. We will depart from the Texins Fitness Center at 10:45 am and eat lunch (at your own expense) at The Metropolitan On Main. We’ll then walk over to UNT Law (3 minutes) to arrive at 1:00 for the tour. We’ll return to Texins around 3:30 pm depending on traffic. The cost is $10.00. There are a limited number of tickets. Please register online for this event.
