Annual Joint TI/TIAA Meals On Wheels

Texas Instruments has offered a joint volunteer event to our TIAA members this year similar to years in the past.  We all will gather at the Texins Fitness Center parking lot to join our fellow TI’ers as we begin our event with free coffee and bagels. Then, the Meals On Wheels staff will dispense coolers filled with hot and cold meal items to be loaded into our own vehicles.  Once done, we take off on our assigned route to deliver meals to needy homebound residents. The assigned routes usually have less than 12 home addresses and total time for deliveries seldom takes more than an hour of our time. Our volunteer day should end upon final meal delivery before noon. We hope you will consider joining us at this fun-filled event to enjoy fellowship with active TI and fellow TIAA members and to help a wonderful organization feed Dallas needy folks.  Please see instructions below from TI.

Kick-off at Texins at north campus at 9:30 AM
Meals on Wheels (through the Visiting Nurses Association in Dallas) provides hot, nutritious, freshly prepared meals five days a week to Dallas County residents who cannot obtain or prepare meals for themselves due to illness, advanced age or disability. These meals contribute to the overall health and well-being of the elderly and the homebound. We are looking for up to 100 TI volunteers (two per vehicle) to deliver meals (pre-prepared by the VNA), according to an assigned route. Register  here (external site). Only TIers (active or retired) are allowed to be drivers on routes. Friends and family MUST be 18 years or older and complete all necessary applications and background checks.  When registering, drivers will choose the “Driving” option, and passengers will choose the “Not Driving” option.
 
Note: As the date approaches, the VNA will email drivers and their passengers to verify who will be in vehicles. Ahead of the event, all participating volunteers must:
  • Download the VNA Meals on Wheels mobile app via the Apple App Store or Google Play store. 
  • Complete the volunteer application on the VNA website (click here), consent to, and submit a background check
  • Complete online training
