The TI Alumni Association’s annual meeting was held at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, on Thursday, May 10. Thanks to TI sponsorship, TIAA members had free admittance at the Arboretum and were able to roam the grounds before and/or after the meeting to view the magic created by Dale Chihuly and his color-drenched glass sculptures. Chihuly’s monumental designs have been exhibited in more than 200 museums, gardens and other venues around the world.
TIAA met in the Rosine Hall, near the entry gate, with a reception and refreshments beginning at 1:00p.m. The meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with remarks by TIAA President Betty Purkey, followed by a presentation from Mary Brinegar, president and CEO of the Dallas Arboretum who brought us up to date on the exciting things going on at the Arboretum. TI Retirees who worked with the Arboretum as volunteers were recognized at the meeting. A presentation by Betsy See of the TI Foundation on an exciting new program for matching gifts (entitled VIP) followed.
The meeting concluded with election of officers for the next fiscal year (July 2012-June 2013). The Nominating Committee
proposed the following as officers:
- President – George Consolver;
- Executive Vice President – Larry James
- Treasurer – Debi Heaton
