The Annual TI Retiree Luncheon will be held at the Mesquite Convention Center on Thursday, October 1. Doors will open at 9:30 am, with a barbeque lunch served at 11:30 am. The speaker this year will be Steve Lyle, who serves as director of engineering workforce development and university marketing for Texas Instruments. He oversees worldwide university collaboration involving recruiting, research and marketing activities for the company, as well as penetrating university curriculum with TI technology across the globe.
The theme of this year’s event is, “Celebrating TI Innovation”. In his comments, Lyle will review TI’s strategy in Research and Development and highlight some of the exciting work being done in universities across the world, including the focus on UT Dallas.
Flu shots will be available at the event. If you are covered by Medicare and/or TI BCBS PPO, there will be no charge for the flu shot, but you will need to bring your Medicare card or your BCBS card to the event. If you are not covered by either of these plans, you will need to pay $24 for the shot (cash or check) at the event and file for reimbursement with your provider.
Each year the TIAA selects a local non-profit to benefit from donations at the TI Retiree Luncheon. This year we are asking retirees to bring books to support the Reading Partners program. TI has partnered with this non-profit and has asked the TIAA to help support the program. Details on the type of books needed will be specified in the invitation packets. Bins will be available near the doors to deposit the books upon arrival.
Invitation packets to the luncheon will be mailed to TI retirees and other TIAA members in late August. If you do not receive your copy by early September, please call the TIAA office at 214-567-8444 and request a copy of the information.
Buses will be available at no charge for those who do not wish to drive to the Mesquite Convention Center, but reservations are required. The buses will leave from the Sherman Texins Activity Center at 8:30 am; from the Spring Creek Texins Activity Center at 9:15 am; and from the Expressway Texins Activity Center at 9:30 am. There will also be a bus leaving from Cliff Temple Baptist Church, South Lot at 9:00 am, and from UNT Dallas Campus at 9:15 am.
Don’t miss this opportunity to catch up on the news from Texas Instruments, and the chance to visit with friends and associates.
