The 15th Annual TIAA Charity Golf Tournament raised more than $36,400 in donations and pledges for two worthwhile charities: the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and The Senior Source. TI and the Texans Credit Union were underwriters for the tournament, making it possible for 100 percent of the donations to go directly to the charities
More than 100 golfers – including active TIers, retirees, and sponsors – joined the tournament as a kickoff to the TI United Way Campaign. In total, 27 teams participated in the tournament on October 20 at the Woodbridge Golf Club in Wylie, TX.
The tournament broke TIAA records for most golfers, largest contributions raised, and possibly the best weather ever for a golf tournament.
Stephanie Grossman, Director of Special Events, for The Senior Source, spoke to golfers during the Award Ceremony, and told them about the work of The Senior Source, including a major new program directed at Senior Security. David Cauthron, who heads the United Way campaign for the IT area at Spring Creek, thanked the TI golfers and the TI Foundation for their contributions to the success of the tournament. He also expressed thanks to TI retiree, Courtney Miller, all the volunteers, and the staff of the Woodbridge Golf Club for their excellent support of the tournament.
Courtney Miller, tournament co-chair, presented a ceremonial check for $17,500 to a representative of The Senior Source. Legend Sponsors for the tournament were: Edward Jones & Co., Jerry Pierce, CFP; Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas; Highland Springs Continuing Care Retirement Community; Town Village North Dallas, a Brookdale Community; UBS Financial Services, Inc.; and The University of Texas at Dallas.
Only one stroke separated the top three teams in the tournament. The team of active TIers: Pros From Dover (shown in photo from left to right: Scott Eisenhart, Ken Cyr, Matt DiMarco and Bill Egr, won top prize in the tournament.
Other winners in the tournament include: Second Place Team: Knee Jerks (Gale Turner, Steve Ranallo, Rick Skaggs and Frank Gonzalez); Third Place Team: Angry Birdies (Guy Josselyn, Kim Harrison, John Zuffinetti and Chad Barnard); Closest to the Pin (Men): Ed Spragins; and Closest to the Pin (Women): Barb Montilla.
