TIAA Launches 2014 United Way Campaign

Sep 17, 2014

A goal of the TI Alumni Association is to provide opportunities for community involvement. That is why, once a year, we join with TI in supporting the United Way Campaign. This year, our TIAA campaign starts September 29 and runs through November 14.

Cathy Beasley, TIAA Secretary, and Max Post, Chair of the Activities Committee, are the co-chairs for this year’s campaign. We believe our combined investments in the United Way Community Impact Fund are one of the best ways to strengthen our communities.

Cathy pointed out that TIAA retirees making a donation to the United Way campaign through TIAA, will have their dollars automatically matched dollar for dollar by the TI Foundation (up to $10,000 per person). You do not need to apply for matching funds. If you previously donated directly to United Way, we ask that your gift be made through the TIAA Campaign to double the impact. Just click http://eway.unitedwaydallas.org/tiaa to make your pledge.

Several communications are planned this year to inform TI retirees and TIAA members about the campaign and how to participate. In addition, there will be a joint volunteer event on Veterans Day, November 11, with active TIers. Details regarding this will be announced at a later date. The TI Retiree Luncheon, scheduled for November 13, will again have the Prize Wheel with all money received that day benefiting the TIAA Campaign.

Max commented that while the total dollars are always important, this year we plan to emphasize participation at any level, as a measure of success for the TIAA Campaign and for our community.
