Walter Charles Staltman, 78, of Plano, TX., passed away on October 16, 2021. He was born in Miami, Florida on October 6, 1943 to Charles and Keva Albury Staltman. He attended Miami Edison High School where he proudly served as drum major in two Orange Bowl parades.
Walt graduated from the University of Michigan in 1966 with a B.S. in electrical engineering. After a short stint with Boeing in New Orleans working on Saturn 5 rockets, he moved to Dallas and began what was to be a distinguished 30-year career at Texas Instruments, later Raytheon. At one point he served as vice president of TI’s Colorado Springs plant. His last position was as Senior Vice President.
In 1969 Walt wed Nancy Bowsher and they were married for 52 happy years. They had two sons, Matthew and Andrew Staltman, both of Seattle. Walt was immensely proud of his sons and their accomplishments.
In his youth Walt was an avid sailor and golfer. In his retirement Walt enjoyed traveling in his Marathon coach and served for many years on the board and as president of the Marathon Coach Club for two years. He was passionate about electronics and was a talented photographer who often photographed the weddings of friends and family members.
He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his sons Andrew and Matthew, daughter-in-law Nancy Leigh and grandsons Gus and Oscar as well as his sisters-in law Rochelle (Alan) Worthing and Melodie Michelson; his three nieces Melinda McAfee, Mia Morris and Melissa Gilliland and and their families. Walt is also mourned by his dog, Leah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Tom Bowsher and Charles Michelson and nephew Luca Cingolani.
