Jerry Glynn Brandenburg was born in Dallas on May 26, 1936, to Winona and Ray Brandenburg and died on September 30, 2024.

He attended Crozier Tech High School, graduated in 1954, and later went on to receive a B.S. in Math from UTA in 1969. He married Roneida Jean Lake in September 1966. He retired from Texas Instruments after 40 years of service and was a founding member of the TI Alumni Association in 1999.

He built a greenhouse in 1971 to better grow tropical plants, fell in love with orchids and joined the American Orchid Society. He became an accredited AOS judge in 1979, traveled nationally and internationally to judge orchid shows, served as President of the Greater North Texas Orchid Society, was a GNTOS Silver Member, chaired the Dallas AOS Judging Center for nine years and was promoted to Judge Emeritus by AOS in 2015.

He also loved antique cars and restored a 1934 Ford five-window Coupe which won many trophies at various car shows. He loved his family dearly, was fun to be around and had a wicked sense of humor. He is known for his deep compassionate, incredible generosity and his servant’s heart.

He will be greatly missed by all, including his beloved boxer Moose. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Lee Brandenburg, his parents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Ronnie, and children Cathy (Billy) Holder, Jane (Hector) Campos, Glynda (Rick) Bergmann, Daniel (Beverly) Brandenburg, Sheri (Jamie) Hagwood, Stacey (Dan) Tipping, and Becki Brandenburg. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 8, 1pm, immediately followed by funeral services in the Restland Memorial Chapel at 2pm.

He respectfully requested that, in lieu of flowers, you honor his memory by doing someone an unexpected kindness.
