On My Own Time Art Competition Seeking Team Participation

Jun 21, 2015

Dallas-area TI retirees and TIAA members – and their spouses – are invited to display their creative talents and take part in the 2015 On My Own Time (OMOT) competition.

This year all categories (visual and literary arts) are open to TI retirees and TIAA members including the brand new Collaborative Category where three or more individuals can create an entry of visual art or literacy art. In the past, teams from other corporations have knitted quilts, compiled short essays, and collaborated on a painting etc..

Please visit the artist website to find out more information about the categories and to register. The password to enter is creativity2015. On this webpage, click on Artists, then click on Entry Form. Retirees or TIAA members wishing to compete should check the box for employees, click on the down arrow and highlight Texas Instruments Inc. Pls. note the BCA wants a hi-res digital image (5 meg) which needs to be uploaded to their site with your registration form. The deadline for registration is July 30.

The art exhibition of all TI entries will be held at the Dallas Texins Activity Center, August 2 through 14, with the winners advancing to the region-wide exhibition at NorthPark in late September (TIAA reserves the right to decide on what entries may be displayed at Texins). Art may be taken to Texins on July 31 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm or on August 1 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The TI Artist Reception will be  August 14 at Texins.

OMOT is an employee art competition organized by the Business Council for the Arts. The council's goal is to recognize and encourage creativity, stimulate dialogue and build team spirit among employees in the North Texas region. Online registration begins now and runs through July 24. Artists are limited to two entries for the show. An outside panel will judge the entries.

TI Retiree, Ted Houston, will again act as TI’s representative to the Business Council for the Arts. In commenting on the OMOT competition, Ted said, “I’m really looking forward to see the results from the collaborative category because this is what TI is about – collaboration, and having fun working together.”
