The winter storms and record cold temperatures that battered Texas have forced millions of the state’s residents to search for survival basics, including shelter, food and water. Many of our company’s nonprofit partners are on the front lines addressing the humanitarian crisis created by the storm.
Here’s how you can help: Consider donating to the organizations listed below providing relief, and remember that a donation of as little as $25 and up to $30,000 will be matched by the TI Foundation, doubling the impact of your gift. Dallas Independent School District
More than 100 of the 230+ schools in Dallas ISD experienced damage to classrooms, technology, band equipment, and more. The district's — and its families' — needs are significant. To donate, please visit https://futureofdallas.org/donate. Dallas ISD is accepting gift card donations (Walmart, fast food restaurants, Mastercard and/or Visa) in increments of $25 and $50. Shelters, including those for victims of domestic violence. Both the COVID-19 pandemic and the winter storm have exacerbated already dangerous situations for families in domestic violence situations, and shelters are often the only place to which they can turn:
- Austin Street Center: This homeless shelter has used much of its financial resources and supplies to get people off the streets, sheltered and fed. It is also in need of blankets, coats, gloves, shoes, and other supplies. Click here for its list of needs and where and how to drop off items. - The Family Place: This domestic violence shelter suffered a water pipe break, resulting in the relocation of their 100+ clients/families. For a list of immediate needs, visit its Amazon wish list. - Genesis Women's Shelter: The shelter and its transitional housing unit have been completely shut down due to power outages and burst water pipes. All residents have been temporarily located to alternative safe locations, and monetary donations will help cover the cost of the moves as well as repairs. Its thrift store is also in need of donations. If you're located in the Dallas area and have gently-used men's and women's winter clothing or household items that you'd like to donate, they will take it. The thrift store is located at 3419 Knight Street (off Lemmon Avenue at Oak Lawn).
Food banks, whose supplies are already stressed from COVID-19 demand, are seeing another surge in need. Please consider donating to:
- North Texas Food Bank (13-county service area, including Dallas and Grayson Counties)

American Red Cross – Ten of its 45 active disaster response operations in the U.S. are in Texas due to winter storms, with warming shelters, cots, and food available to those who need it. Visit our company's American Red Cross microsite to donate.

- Warming shelters: If you or someone you know is in need of resources, call 2-1-1 to speak with someone to get a list of shelters and warming stations closest to you. The Texas Division of Emergency Management also has a map of sites, and you can find a Google map of local warming centers here.
- Food: North Texas Food Bank is hosting mobile food pantries in Dallas and Plano on Saturday, Feb 20. Click here for more information. There is no need to register. It’s first come, first served.
