Texins Jazz Band-38th Anniversary Free Concert
Fannin Hall, Richland College
12800 Abrams Rd, Dallas, TX
In the summer of 1986 a summer intern placed an ad in the Dallasite monthly newspaper that said “Jazz musicians wanted for big band.” Within a week, there were enough responses to form a full 18-piece big band. The band was officially established as the Jazz Club under the Texins Association umbrella. The band chose the name The Texas Instruments Jazz Band.
The band has remained active for 38 years and has performed 353 concert in several states and three countries. When the Texins Association ceased operation at the end of 2019 the band became a stand alone 501c3 organization and shortened the name to “Texins Jazz Band.” There are still ten active and former TI employees currently playing in the band.
