Holiday Lights Trolley Ride (Highland Park)

Join other TIAA members as we enjoy this trolley ride through Highland Park to view the beautiful Christmas lights, munch on Candy canes and listen to Christmas music. We will hop off at one of the homes, look at the decorations and have a great photo opportunity. We will leave at 6:15 pm for a 7:00 ride and return to TI about 8:30. Register early online as seating is very limited. Cost will be $20 for members and $22 for nonmembers.

Fredericksburg Trip, September 25-27, 2018

Nine, adventurous TIAA souls headed to Fredericksburg on September 25, 2018 to check in at the Main Street B&B.  We enjoyed "happy hour" on their upstairs balcony overlooking Main Street at 5:00 before adventuring out.  That evening we walked to Mamacitas for Mexican food before carpooling to the Enchanted Rock to view the dark skies (forgot that it was harvest moon time and the stars were certainly out-shown that night).  The next morning it was back to the balcony for a delicious breakfast before walking across the street to the National Museum of the Pacific War.

John Bunker Sands Wetland Center tour, September 2018

TIAA members enjoyed a private tour of the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center in Seagoville on September 12.   This  is one of the largest, constructed wetlands in the United States and is located along the banks of the East Fork of the Trinity River.  It was dedicated as a wetland mitigation bank in honor of the late John Bunker Sands (1948-2003) and provides facilities to further our understanding of the area's water supply challenges and the importance of habitat conservation.  We sauntered along the nice, secure boardwalks which extends into the living wetland and observed the birds, rept

TrainTopia Tour, August 30, 2018

On August 30 fourteen TIAA folks wandered around in awe as we visited the toy train exhibit, TrainTopia, at the Frisco Discovery Center.  The G-scale model layout (G for garden because it was originally intended to stay outside and run among the flowers) was donated by the Sanders family and spans more than 2,500 square feet with multiple trains running constantly on different tracks.

"Curtains" Play, Black Box Theater, Mesquite CANCELLED

“Curtains” is a parody of the 1950s “whodunit” theater mysteries.  Here a lone detective, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, investigates a series of murders that take place behind the scenes of a fictional cowboy musical entitled ‘Robbin’ Hood’. The cast of ‘Robbin’ Hood’ is forced to stay inside the theater while the Boston police detective unravels the mystery, gets involved with the show and falls in love with the Ingenue in the process. We will meet at the Black Box Theater, 1527 N.

The Dallas Rattlers Lacrosse Team vs. Charlotte Hounds

Did you know there's a new professional sports team in town called the Dallas Rattlers who play lacrosse (or "the stick" in French)? They just moved here from Rochester, NY, are part of the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) organization, play in the air-conditioned Ford Center at The STAR stadium in Frisco, average almost 4,000 attendees/game and have won five out of seven games so far this year.
