"Ebenezer Scrooge" Pocket Sandwich Theater

This adaptation of A Christmas Carol brings Dickens’ narrative to vivid life with sixteen musical numbers and spectacular effects that illuminate Ebenezer Scrooge’s time-traveling journey with the spirits one magical Christmas Eve. From his kind-hearted sister Fan and first love Belle to his generous employer Fezziwig and humble clerk Bob Cratchit, Scrooge is repeatedly shown the saving grace of love and concern for humanity.

"Werewolf of London" Pocket Sandwich Theater

 

What better way to get in the Halloween mood than to see a melodramatic comedy spoof of that old wolf of incredible evil at the Pocket Sandwich Theater in Dallas? We invite you to accompany us on a trip to the past, to 1889, boo...hiss...!  We will meet at the theater at 6:30 pm, eat dinner there (on your own), watch this play at 8:00 and be on our way home at 10:30. Please register on line for this event. Cost will be $12.

DATE CHANGE!! TX Freshwater Fisheries Center at Athens, TX

DATE CHANGE: FEBRUARY 19th We will hop on a bus and drive about 75 miles to visit this interesting center that is recognized as a national leader in implementing effective natural resources conservation and outdoor recreational programs.  Built as a joint venture between the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation and the city of Athens, this center offers dive programs, aquatic education and a production freshwater hatchery.

Homestead Heritage Farm Thanksgiving Fair CANCELLED

Let’s leave city-life behind, hop on our TIAA bus and tour a working farm.  You can ride on a horse-drawn hay wagon, watch a cow being milked, lend a hand at the old-fashioned timber-frame barn raising, see a master craftsman fashion a fine Windsor chair from a rough log, sample the tasty dishes from the food court, do some Christmas shopping of handcrafted gifts, or maybe lick a maple-pecan ice-cream cone.

Parker County Peach Festival, Weatherford

The Peach Capital of Texas is celebrating the 35th Annual Parker County Peach Festival in downtown Weatherford so let’s go! They have more than 200 Arts, Craft, Food and Activity vendors. You will be able to get your fill of homemade peach ice cream, peach cobbler, peach pie, peach juleps, peach tea, peach smoothies or just plain ol' juicy peaches to bring home. There will also be two stages with non-stop entertainment for the entire family. And you don't want to miss the food competition, which has quickly become a local favorite!

The Big Beats at Pocket Sandwich Theater

Formed in 1957 and still rockin’ after all these years, “The Big Beats” were an instant hit with an appearance on Dick Clark’s American Band Stand. They became one of the favorite groups of their time, touring with such super stars as Buddy Holly and The Crickets, Johnny Cash, Gene Vincent, Roy Orbison, Ricky Nelson, and Bobby Darin. The five-piece band toured successfully for more than twenty years.

Texas Museum of Broadcasting & Communications is an interactive museum preserving America's broadcast history from its earliest days. This is an amazing collection of broadcast paraphernalia with most of the items in working order. Gramophones, a phonograph invented by Edison, and an actual ESPN mobile bus filled with equipment that has filmed many historical events, broadcasting almost anything that moved and is, perhaps, the last surviving example.

Southwest Exposition and Rodeo, Fort Worth

Join us for this legendary event at the Will Rogers Memorial Center – It has been going on since 1846 and this will be the last year at the old coliseum so let’s go capture some memories.The show offers an atmosphere rich in culture and diversity as professional rodeo athletes compete for the championship by roping those calves, riding those bulls and broncs, and showing their great cutting horses. There will be lots of animals up-close-and-personal, including horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, poultry, pigeons, rabbits and even llamas.
