RESCHULED TO 2021 UTA Glass-blowing Demo and Art Sale

There is something about glass-blowing that creates a "moth to a flame" fascination as an expert takes a crucible of molten glass and produces a footed picture, a paperweight, or perhaps a bowl using a constant ballet-like motion and rotation of the blowpipe. We will hop on our bus at 9 am and travel to UTA's state-of-the art glass facilities to see a live demo by an instructor and learn how glass blowers create these lovely items.

Texas Motor Speedway Tour, June 18, 2019

Some of the TIAA members signed up for a tour of one of the world’s largest entertainment facilities, the Texas Motor Speedway with it's 1,500 acres and five different tracks.  First, we hopped on a bus to enjoy lunch at Red Robin in Fort Worth and then headed to the speedway.  We visited several areas while on site:  a gift shop (of course), the garages (with 45 bays), pit row, the wall where the mechanics stand (read to jump down and attend to their car when it enters pit row at 45 mph) during the race, victory lane, and a luxury suite.

"Mamma Mia", Granville Arts Center in Garland

The story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter, and friendship creating an unforgettable show.  A large cast, non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers combine to make this a guaranteed smash you will enjoy.  A mother,  a daughter, three possible dads and a trip down the aisle you will never forget.  After the show, we will walk across the street to eat Tex-Mex at Dos Banderos.  There is no bus for this event. We will be driving there on our own.

Rose-Mary Rumbley "Starting Anew”

Everyone in Dallas has heard of and loves Rose-Mary Rumbley, speaker-humorist-author-teacher-actress extraordinaire, who “performs” over 600 times a year; and TIAA is finally on her calendar (again!)  So, let's listen to her and her stories and start 2020 off on the right foot.  Since the Texins Fitness Center’s conference rooms will be undergoing renovations during the rest of 2019, we have reserved the comfortable S/C auditorium for this entertaining, free event.  Rose-Mary will begin at 1:30 pm but please arrive early as everyone will need to clear security at the TI g
