TIAA members enjoyed a nice day in the sun helping the Dolphin Heights Community with their gardening duties.
Friday, 10:00am – 3:30pm, Veterans Resource Center (VRC), 4900 S. Lancaster Road, Dallas. Volunteers are needed to assist with the annual Homeless Veteran “Stand Down”. A bus will leave the Texins Activity Center at 10:00 in order to arrive at the VRC by 11:30. Volunteers will help with men’s clothing give away and clean up. We will be outside in tents so dress accordingly. The VRC is expecting up to 700 homeless individuals, thus, they are requesting a large number of volunteers. We are hoping to have up to 40 TIAA volunteers to make this event a success.

The White Rock Center of Hope is a community coalition of individuals, civic and social organizations, and over 50 Member Churches united to provide emergency aid and steps toward self-sufficiency to their neighbors in the White Rock Lake area. We volunteered to help with sorting food, working in the thrift shop and other tasks around the center.
TIAA volunteers helped sort and shelve canned goods, bag food for recipients and other assorted duties.

TIAA members volunteered at the Crossroads Community Services (CCS) center located in downtown Dallas. We helped size, sort and hang clothing; match shoe donations; and restock clothing and food supply rooms.
We returned to plant the sustainable community garden that will produce watermelon, cantaloupe, eggplant, hot and mild peppers and herbs this summer.
