This policy will be revised when needed and reviewed in detail at least annually by the TIAA Executive Vice President for consistency between policy and current practice.
Overview
The duties of the Executive VP, as described in the TIAA Bylaws, are to “oversee the operations of the Association and preside over meetings in the absence of the President.”
Additionally, the Executive VP’s roles and responsibilities include:
- Lead a biannual (or more frequently if needed) review and update of the organization’s Constitution and Bylaws.
- Insure that each TIAA organization reviews and updates its operating “Guidelines” annually.
- Attend the bimonthly Executive Committee meetings and chair them in the absence of the President.
- In time of absence, substitute for the Treasurer. However, at all times, dual approval of expense items must be maintained (two separate authorized individuals).
- Participate as needed in TIAA Ad Hoc committees.
- Participate in TIAA leadership development discussions and recruiting.
- Participate in the planning and organization of the TIAA’s two major annual events: the TI Retiree Luncheon and the TIAA Annual Business Meeting.
- Either the President or the Executive Vice President approves the monthly time sheet of the paid TIAA Admin which is the basis for the monthly pay of the Admin.
- Attend as many TIAA functions as practical to help assess the overall operation of the Association.
