The TI Alumni Association (TIAA) is teaming up again with the Texins Association for the 14th Annual TIAA Charity Golf Tournament. The event is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 9, at the Woodbridge Golf Club in Wylie, TX. It will benefit two worthwhile charities: the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and The Senior Source. Texas Instruments and the Texans Credit Union are underwriters for the tournament, making it possible for 100% of donations to go directly to the charities.

Last year, there were nine teams of active TIers out of the 19 teams in the tourney. The Texins Association coordinates the active TI golfers and their contributions are given to the (JDRF). Contributions from individual retirees, former TIers, TIAA golfers and sponsors go to The Senior Source. In last year’s tournament, more than $20,000 was raised for the two worthwhile charities.

Another benefit of the combined tourney was the opportunity to get better acquainted with active TI golfers and let them know about the TIAA and its programs. Over the past 13 years, the tournament has raised more than $300,000 for charities, thanks to the generosity of individual donors, corporate sponsors, and golfers. The Senior Source, now in its 52nd year of service to older adults in our community, is experiencing increased needs for its services, which include vital programs in protection, eldercare, advocacy, volunteer opportunities and employment services for seniors.

Retirees and former TIers are encouraged to help support this year’s tourney, whether golfers or not. For information on how to contribute, visit the TIAA website, or call the TIAA office. Sponsorships are available for golf holes and carts. There are also opportunities for volunteers to help in contacting corporate sponsors or helping with the tournament logistics. Please contact the TIAA office for information on volunteer opportunities.

The event will begin with check-in, starting at 10 a.m., and lunch will be served starting at 11:00 a.m. The tournament will begin with a shot-gun start at 12:30 p.m., with awards following the tournament. To participate in this year’s tournament, contact the TIAA office at 214-567-8444, or download Retirees/Ex-TIer Golfer's Registration Form.
