The TI Alumni Association raised more than $20,000 to benefit The Senior Source – The Senior Citizens of Greater Dallas – at the sixth annual TIAA Charity Golf Tournament on September 12, 2005.
This boosts to more than $120,000 the total money the TIAA golf tournament has raised over the past five years to help improve the quality of life for seniors in the North Texas area. Some 73 golfers registered to play in the 2005 tournament Sept.12 at Oakridge Country Club in Garland.
Ed Hassler, TIAA president, and Courtney Miller, tournament organizer, presented a check to Molly Bogen, The Senior Source executive director, and Linus Wright, chairman of the Senior Source board, representing the contributions by golfers, TI retirees and sponsors.
In accepting the check, Dr. Wright, a former Dallas Independent School District superintendent, praised the golfers and TIAA for their contributions to the agency, which is making a difference in the lives of thousands of Metroplex seniors.
Texas Instruments and the Texans Credit Union received special recognition for generously underwriting the tournament costs so all donations could go directly to The Senior Source.
During the awards ceremony, Ed recognized Doris Mott, TIAA administrator; Stephanie Grossman, The Senior Source special events coordinator, and all volunteers for their good work in making the tournament possible.
Courtney Miller announced the winning golf teams:
