More than 65 golfers participated in the TIAA fifth Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held September 20 at the Oakridge Country Club in Garland, to benefit The Senior Source (Senior Citizens of Greater Dallas).
It was a great tournament and TI retirees enjoyed renewing old friendships. At the awards ceremony, a check was presented by Ed Hassler, TIAA President, and Courtney Miller, TI retiree and tournament co-organizer, to Molly Bogen, Executive Director, The Senior Source, representing the $22,600 raised by golfers, sponsors, and individual retiree contributors. Funds received after the tournament brought the total amount raised to $23,000. This year’s result brings the total to more than $100,000 raised by TIAA over the past four years to help improve the quality of life for seniors in our community.
Ed Hassler gave a word of thanks to the TIAA volunteers who helped with the tournament, and especially Doris Mott of TIAA and Stephanie Grossman of The Senior Source for their hard work on the arrangements. Special recognition was given to Texas Instruments and the Texans Credit Union for underwriting the costs of the tournament again this year. This made it possible for all proceeds to go directly to The Senior Source.
Recognition was also given to the Legend Sponsors for their generosity.
Courtney Miller announced the winning golf teams – it was an exciting finish with three teams tied for first place. It was necessary to examine individual score cards to determine the winning team. The final results were as follows:
- First Place: David Addison and Bill Henderson
- Second Place: Alex Adamez, Walt Bonner, Larry Gekiere, Jr. and Voyd Hill
- Third Place: Steve Carlson, Rob Davis, Rich Rolandelli, and Jerry Steele
- Fourth Place: Wimpy Cain, Dwain Chaffin, Ted Miller and Max Price
- Fifth Place: Jackie Gross, Kevin Koestner, Ravi Parmar, and Ronnie Payne

Despite the best efforts of golfers, the car was still unclaimed at the end of this year’s tournament, but there’s always next year!
