SUMMARY:The Texas Ramp Project
DESCRIPTION:[Location – Assigned the week before the event]\nHave you ever changed a person’s life in a single day? The Texas Ramp Project does it hundreds of times a year! They build wheelchair ramps for disabled or elderly people who can’t afford to buy one. In a few hours in a morning, they give these folks the freedom to leave their home again—the home where they want to remain but whose steps have imprisoned them.\nVolunteers will assist in the construction of a custom-made ramp–no construction skills required and all tools will be provided.  Please meet by 9:00 am at an assigned location by private vehicle (a Senior Source van will not be available for this event’s transportation).  Afterwards, we will have lunch at a local restaurant (at your own expense).  Please register online for this event. You MUST register so we know how many volunteers to count on for this event.\n\nVolunteers must wear heavy duty closed-toe shoes or boots.  Hats and long sleeve shirts are recommended as all activity is outdoors and may be in full sun light.\nVolunteers should be comfortable with lifting at least 20 lbs. However, not all volunteers will need to lift this much.\nVolunteers should be comfortable with standing, bending, and walking for extended periods of time\n\n
