2007 TI Retiree Luncheon

The annual Big Event celebration was held honoring former TIers on Thursday, Nov. 15, at Southfork Ranch in Collin County east of Plano. TI Chairman Tom Engibous spoke following lunch and helped open the TI-Austin time capsule recovered from that site last winter.  Lewis McMahan, TI Alumni Association president, said it was interesting to see what the TIers decided to put in the capsule some 30 years ago. “For the 800-plus former TIers who attended last year, you know the food was great, and the fellowship even better,” Lewis said. “This year, we turned the lights up since we are not celebrating Halloween. Large signs marked the gathering areas for SC, DSEG, GSI and other TI groups to help people find their old workmates.”

The event started at 10 a.m., and finished about 2 p.m. Attendees chatted with friends, received flu and pneumonia immunizations as well as various medical tests and  visited the vendor exhibits.  TIAA offered a one-year free membership or renewal to all former TIers or spouses who attended the Big Event:

The cost was $12.50 per person for advance registration, or $20 per person at the door. A barbecue buffet (including dishes prepared to vegetarian standards) was served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.   TIAA ran buses from several locations for honorees not wishing to drive.
