TIAA Plans Annual Meeting at Old Red Courthouse
Old Red CourthouseThe TI Alumni Association will
hold its eighth annual membership meeting
Wednesday, May 21, in the landmark Old Red
Courthouse in Downtown Dallas.
The meeting will start at 11 a.m. in the fourth
floor "green" room in the 1893 building, which
now houses the
Old Red Museum of Dallas County History and
Culture on the second floor.
TIAA members can tour the restored building and
Old Red Museum at no charge at 10 a.m. or noon.
Those who wish to take the tour can meet by the
Pegasus in the lobby at the scheduled time.
Coffee and doughnuts will be served before the
meeting.
What's on the Agenda
The meeting's primary purpose is to elect TIAA
officers for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Max
Post, nominating committee chairman, announced
the slate of candidates: Ronnie Brandenburg,
president: Tom Boedecker, executive vice
president; Ellen McKee, secretary; and Larry
James, treasurer. Nominations will also be
accepted from the floor from TIAA members.
Lewis McMahan, the current TIAA president, will
give an overview on TIAA. Lewis is completing
his second one-year term and is not eligible
for re-election.
John Van Scoter, TI senior vice president and
general manager of DLP® Products since November
2000, will be the executive speaker. In that
time, DLP Products has seen a significant
increase in customer adoption of DLP technology
in mainstream consumer products such as
high-definition TVs, projectors and digital
cinema.
Getting There
The Old Red Courthouse is located at 100 S.
Houston St., occupying the block bounded by
Houston, Main St., Commerce St., and the John F.
Kennedy Memorial Plaza.
TIAA is encouraging members to take DART light
rail trains to Union Station two blocks away.
Riders age 65+ can buy a day pass for $1.50. For
information on using DART, call 214-749-1111 or
see www.dart.org.
Also, TIAA will offer free roundtrip bus
transportation to the meeting. Buses will leave
at 9 a.m. from the Texins Activity Center on the
TI Expressway site and at 9:30 a.m. from the
Women's Building at Fair Park. They will return
after the last courthouse and museum tour.
Although TIAA will not charge for the buses,
members who plan to ride a TIAA bus should
notify TIAA when they phone their meeting
reservations to the TIAA office.
For members who will travel by car, parking will
be available in the garage under the Old Red
Courthouse (entrance on Commerce St.) TIAA
members who park in the garage will need to
bring their parking ticket to the meeting for
validation. An announcement will be made to
remind members to have their parking tickets
validated.
The handicapped access ramp is located on the
Commerce/Kennedy Memorial side of the building
and leads to the front lobby. The building has
elevator access to all floors. The museum floor
is wheelchair accessible.
Invitations/Reservations

before the meeting
